What Happened
A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Oyster Bay Road and Old Country Road in Hicksville knocked out a pedestrian signal and trapped one driver in a dark-colored Nissan SUV Sunday afternoon, according to News 12 Long Island. Nassau County Police and the Hicksville Fire Department were called to the scene around 4 p.m. on August 17, 2026.
Firefighters and members of Nassau’s Emergency Service Unit used cutting tools to extricate one of the drivers from the Nissan SUV, News 12 Long Island reported. After freeing that driver, the same SUV was found to have come to rest on the lawn of a Mobil gas station at the intersection, where it took out a pedestrian traffic signal.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries, Nassau County Police said. Neither was identified by name or age as of Monday morning.
