What Happened
An 18-year-old Lindenhurst woman was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the Southern State Parkway Friday night, according to New York State Police.
Ciara Hare, 18, of Lindenhurst, was driving a Honda Civic in the eastbound lanes of the Southern State Parkway in Oyster Bay when the fatal collision occurred, police say. A 27-year-old man driving a Subaru moved from the center lane to the right lane, striking the side of Hare’s Honda Civic, according to state police.
The impact forced both vehicles onto the right shoulder of the parkway. The Subaru spun out and flipped onto the driver’s side, while the Honda struck an electric box before colliding with a traffic camera pole, police report.
Hare was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Two passengers in her Honda Civic were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, state police say. The 27-year-old driver of the Subaru was also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by New York State Police. Authorities are asking any witnesses or anyone with information regarding this crash to call (631) 756-3300.
