What Happened
A commercial box truck slammed into a pole in the center median of Sunrise Highway in Sayville on Sunday morning, leaving one occupant trapped and heavily pinned inside the mangled cab and setting off a lengthy rescue effort, according to a Greater Long Island report.
The Sayville Fire Department arrived to find the box truck had come to rest against a center median pole on the westbound express lane, with the cab heavily damaged and an occupant unable to free themselves, per the Greater Long Island report.
