The outstanding warrant charges would be adjudicated separately depending on the originating jurisdiction. Police have not yet confirmed whether additional charges, such as reckless driving under VTL § 1212, are under consideration pending the investigation.
Broader Impact
A 3 a.m. pedestrian strike on Route 112 in Patchogue fits a documented pattern of late-night pedestrian vulnerability on multi-lane arterials without full median protection. New York law under VTL § 1151 requires drivers to yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks; whether a marked crosswalk exists at the Silver Street intersection on Route 112 had not been confirmed by Suffolk County Police as of their initial release.
