What Happened
Nadeem Ahmad was killed in his own driveway in Selden Wednesday morning, Aug. 26, 2026, when a vehicle he was working on slipped off a jack and rolled over him, police said. The incident was reported at around 8:15 a.m.
According to Daily Voice, Ahmad was underneath the vehicle performing maintenance when it became dislodged from the jack. The car then rolled down the driveway. The sudden movement trapped Ahmad beneath the vehicle, per the Daily Voice report citing investigators.
Ahmad was pulled from underneath and rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital. He was pronounced dead there, authorities confirmed to Daily Voice.
No other individuals were involved. Police described the incident as an accident stemming from DIY car maintenance.
Location & Road Context
The incident occurred at a private residential driveway in Selden, a hamlet in the Town of Brookhaven in central Suffolk County. Selden sits along the Middle Country Road corridor, one of Suffolk’s busiest surface routes, though this incident took place off any public roadway entirely.
Stony Brook University Hospital, the Level 1 trauma center that received Ahmad, is approximately four miles northwest of the Selden hamlet center on Route 25A in Stony Brook.
