What Happened

Wayne Conforti Jr., 37, of Flanders, was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing Flanders Road near Oak Avenue in Flanders early Sunday morning, August 31, 2026, according to News 12 Long Island. Southampton Town Police received the 911 report of a motor vehicle accident around 1:30 a.m.

Officers from the department’s Community Response Unit and Patrol Division responded to the scene, along with the Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Arriving units found Conforti lying in the roadway with serious injuries, police said.

The investigation determined Conforti was crossing Flanders Road when a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, traveling through the lighted intersection at Oak Avenue, struck him, News 12 Long Island reported. The collision happened at a functioning traffic signal. The driver of the Tacoma was not hurt.
