What Happened
A 19-year-old Port Jefferson Station man was ejected from his motorcycle and struck two separate vehicles on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, according to Suffolk County Police as reported by Patch.
The motorcyclist was riding a 2022 Honda motorcycle westbound on Nesconset Highway when he moved onto the right shoulder to bypass slower traffic, Suffolk police said. His motorcycle then struck a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro that was turning right into a parking lot along Nesconset Highway. The collision ejected the rider over the Camaro’s hood.
After clearing the Camaro, the motorcyclist struck a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu that was simultaneously exiting the same parking lot to travel westbound onto Nesconset Highway, according to the Patch report. The sequence — shoulder riding, Camaro impact, ejection, and a secondary strike on the Malibu — unfolded at a single parking lot driveway.
Suffolk County Police transported the 19-year-old to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Camaro, a 39-year-old from Port Jefferson, was not hurt. The driver of the Malibu, a 69-year-old from Coram, was also uninjured, police said. All three vehicles — the Honda motorcycle, the Camaro, and the Malibu — were impounded for a safety check.

Port Jefferson Station has seen prior motorcycle incidents on its roads. A motorcycle crash on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station disrupted traffic in August 2025, roughly a year before Thursday’s collision on Nesconset Highway.

Suffolk County Police detectives from the 6th Squad in Selden are investigating the crash. No charges had been announced as of the Patch report filed at 7:31 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2026. Police identified speeding and shoulder travel as contributing factors based on their preliminary account, though no formal charging documents have been released.
