What Happened
A multi-vehicle crash closed all lanes of State Route 347 at its intersection with Route 111 in Hauppauge on Saturday morning, September 5, 2026, according to a spokeswoman for the Suffolk County Police Department. The crash was reported at approximately 9:45 a.m.
About 30 minutes later — around 10:15 a.m. — police shut down Route 347 in all directions between its intersections with Route 111 and Sequoia Drive, Newsday reported. That closure covers roughly 1,100 feet of the state road.
Multiple drivers were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, according to the Suffolk County Police spokeswoman. As of noon Saturday, police had not confirmed whether any of those transported suffered serious injuries.
The spokeswoman told Newsday that between three and five vehicles were involved, but the exact number had not been determined. She could not say what caused the crash. The road remained closed as of noon, according to Newsday.
