Two 16-year-olds were sent airborne and critically hurt Sunday afternoon after the moped they were riding collided with an SUV on Water Street in Norwalk, Connecticut, according to News 12 Long Island, which obtained video of the impact. Robbie Hughes, a nearby resident who witnessed the aftermath of the collision, described a chaotic scene. “Police and ambulances were everywhere. It was crazy,” Hughes said. Hughes acknowledged that while some young riders take risks, most follow the rules. “You definitely see kids every now and then going a little bit crazy, not wearing helmets, running through red lights, but the majority of them are following the laws,” he said. “It could potentially be a learning experience for some of these kids. Wear a helmet, be safe, and follow the rules of the road. Hopefully everyone is going to be alright.”
