What Happened
Herson Almonte, 42, of Port Jefferson Station, was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Nesconset Highway in Centereach early Saturday morning, according to Patch. The crash was reported at approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 1, 2026.
Almonte was operating a 2026 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Nesconset Highway, east of Nicolls Road, when he lost control of the bike and struck the center divider of the roadway, Patch reports. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Emergency responders transported Almonte to Stony Brook University Hospital following the collision. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Suffolk County Police.
