Six people were arrested across Nassau and Suffolk counties in a series of unrelated incidents, according to Greater Long Island, with charges ranging from child sexual abuse material possession to elder fraud to public lewdness.
Taylor Culkin, 21, of Lake Ronkonkoma was arrested Thursday after an investigation by the New York State Police Troop L Computer Crimes Unit. State police charged her with four felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. Culkin, a Sachem North High School graduate who describes herself online as a digital creator, is scheduled to be arraigned September 24 at Suffolk County First District Court in Islip.
A second CSAM case emerged from Riverhead, where Suffolk County Police arrested Josue Duran, 33, on Friday after receiving a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Digital Forensic Unit detectives executed a search warrant at a Duryea Street address and seized multiple cell phones. Duran was charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance by a child. He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip, per Greater Long Island’s report.
A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized Wednesday evening after crashing his e-bike into a parked pickup truck in East Meadow, Nassau County Police said. The teen was riding westbound on Hempstead Turnpike at about 5:10 p.m. when he struck a 2026 GMC stopped in the parking lot of 2174 Hempstead Turnpike. He suffered multiple lacerations and pain to his arms and knee and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The GMC’s driver remained at the scene and was not injured.
Roughly 15 minutes later and three miles west, a 2027 Kia drove into the CVS at 1829 Grand Avenue in Baldwin at about 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, Nassau Police said. The Kia was driven by a 64-year-old woman who had a 68-year-old male passenger. The car struck the building’s outer wall. Both occupants suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Building inspectors responded and condemned part of the CVS structure.
A 70-year-old Hicksville woman lost $919,200 to phone fraudsters between June 29 and July 27, Nassau Police said. Callers told her she had been implicated in a crime in India and instructed her to withdraw and wire funds to resolve it. On Tuesday, the same callers demanded an additional $300,000 in gold bars and coins. She called police instead. Detectives subsequently arrested Fnu Tierigeli, 32, of Woodside, Queens, on a charge of second-degree attempted grand larceny. Tierigeli pleaded not guilty at her arraignment at Nassau First District Court in Hempstead, according to Greater Long Island.
Rory Anderson, 32, of Freeport was arrested after Nassau police say he exposed himself to a 5-year-old girl at the Marshalls at 256 E. Sunrise Highway in Freeport on July 29 at approximately 8:30 p.m. The child spotted Anderson and told her mother, who called police. Anderson was charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Friday in Nassau First District Court. Nassau County detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Anderson to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or 911; all callers remain anonymous.
