What Happened
David Maiman, 44, of Middle Island was killed Wednesday afternoon when his 2020 Lexus crossed into oncoming traffic on Rocky Point Yaphank Road in Rocky Point, according to a Suffolk County Police Department press release.
Maiman was driving northbound when the Lexus veered into the southbound lane and struck the front driver side of a 2020 Jeep at approximately 1:30 p.m. The collision was head-on by contact point. A second person — the Jeep’s driver — was also injured in the crash.
Maiman was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Suffolk County Police Department has not released the Jeep driver’s name, age, hometown, or hospital destination. The severity of that person’s injuries has not been confirmed in the official release.
