What Happened
A Bay Shore man stabbed a 65-year-old man in the neck during a meeting at First United Methodist Church, 25 Broadway, Amityville, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday, according to a press release from the Suffolk County Police Department. The attacker, identified as Daniel Escobar, fled the church immediately after the stabbing.
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives took up the investigation. They located Escobar on Ackerson Boulevard in Amityville and placed him under arrest, per the SCPD press release. The distance between the church at 25 Broadway and Ackerson Boulevard is short, both within the Amityville hamlet.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries to his neck. His name has not been released by police.
