What Happened
Vincent McKie, 45, of Bay Shore suffered serious injuries Wednesday night after his dirt bike rear-ended an SUV stopped in traffic on Brentwood Road in Bay Shore, according to Greater Long Island.
McKie was riding a Suzuki DRZ southbound in front of 1383 Brentwood Road at approximately 9:15 p.m. when he struck the right rear of a 2025 Acura RDX that had stopped in traffic, Suffolk County Police reported. The impact ejected McKie from the bike.
Suffolk County Police officers and emergency responders transported McKie to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore. His injuries were described as serious, per the Greater Long Island report.
The driver of the Acura RDX, Gerson Rivas Varela, 26, of Bay Shore, was not hurt, police said. Both vehicles — the Suzuki DRZ and the 2025 Acura RDX — were impounded for safety checks following the collision.

Investigation & Legal Proceedings
