What Happened

Edison Aguilar, 20, of Patchogue was killed Saturday morning when his motorcycle struck a car that turned left in front of him on Route 112 in Medford, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. The crash was reported shortly after 6:50 a.m.

Aguilar was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle northbound on Route 112, a state highway, when he reached the Southaven Avenue intersection, Newsday reported. A southbound 2016 Toyota Matrix, driven by a 44-year-old Medford resident, was making a left turn at that intersection. The two vehicles collided.

Aguilar was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Toyota driver and a passenger in that vehicle were not injured.

A Suffolk County Police spokesman told Newsday that no criminality is suspected. The name of the Toyota driver was not released.
