What Happened
According to the Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad, a 31-year-old male bicyclist was struck while stationary near Nassau Expressway and Burnside Avenue in Inwood at approximately 10:11 PM on Friday, September 18, 2026. The victim was hit by a 2018 Subaru traveling eastbound on Burnside Avenue, per NCPD.
The vehicle remained at the scene. Michael Mayosky, 51, of East Meadow, was arrested without incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Charges
The Nassau County Police Department reports that Mayosky has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree, two counts of Vehicular Assault 1st Degree, Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, three counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and Reckless Driving. These are charges, not convictions.
The department stated that Mayosky was scheduled for arraignment on September 19, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead. The 2018 Subaru was impounded for a brake and safety check.
