What Happened
Nassau County Police Department’s Third Squad reports the arrest of a Queens man in connection with a burglary that occurred on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at approximately 10:18 p.m., at 666 Old Country Road in East Garden City.
According to detectives, the owner of Morning Delights — a restaurant located in the basement level of the building — received a motion alert from his security camera and responded to the scene. He found an unknown male inside the building using tools to attempt to open the door of another business. The owner told the man to leave, but he refused. The owner then exited the building and called police.
Following an investigation, police arrested Josiah Paul, 26, of Jamaica. The victim reported damage to his entry door and missing food items.
Paul is charged with Burglary in the 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, Petit Larceny, and Criminal Trespass in the 3rd degree. Police said he was arraigned on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead. A charge is not a conviction.
