What Happened
Suffolk County Police arrested four people during a joint inspection at Honduras Deli, located at 1962 New York Ave. in Huntington Station, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. The operation was triggered by community complaints and conducted by Second Precinct Crime Section officers alongside the New York State Liquor Authority, Town of Huntington Fire Marshal, and Town of Huntington Ordinance Inspector.
Officers observed customers using gambling devices and consuming liquor on the premises. The deli does not hold a license for on-site liquor consumption, SCPD said.
Those Charged
Jose Turcios, 78, of East Northport, was charged with Promoting Gambling, Possession of Gambling Devices, Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree, and two counts of ABC Law-Disorderly Premises. He was also issued two New York State Liquor Authority violations and received a Desk Appearance Ticket.
Jose Camachocortes, 52, of Huntington Station, was found in possession of what SCPD described as a large quantity of cocaine and was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree.
Juan Zepeda, 41, of Huntington Station, was found to have an active warrant and was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
Hector Suazo, 41, of Huntington Station, was found in possession of cocaine and was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. He was issued a Field Appearance Ticket.
Camachocortes and Zepeda were held overnight at the Second Precinct and were scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 26, according to SCPD. Turcios and Suazo were scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
The Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Town Building Inspector issued multiple violations for fire code and building ordinance infractions. The New York State Liquor Authority, Town of Huntington Fire Marshal, and Town of Huntington Ordinance Inspector said their investigation is continuing.
A criminal charge is an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
