What Happened
Matthew Adcock, 54, of Huntington, was killed late Wednesday night after his Ford SUV left Dix Hills Road just south of Hren Court and struck a fence and a large hedge, according to Huntington Now. The crash was reported at approximately 11:25 p.m.
Suffolk County police said Adcock was driving north on Dix Hills Road when the vehicle departed the roadway. It struck the fence and hedge before coming to rest. No other vehicles were involved.
Detectives believe Adcock suffered a medical episode before the SUV left the road, according to Huntington Now. The specific nature of the episode has not been released by police.
Adcock was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Ford was impounded for a safety check, Suffolk County police confirmed.
