What Happened
Edward Brown called 911 at approximately 12:30 a.m. Monday, September 7, 2026, to report he had been stabbed inside his apartment at 73 Mastic Blvd., Apt. C, in Mastic. Suffolk County Police and personnel from the Mastic Volunteer Ambulance Company responded to the address. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, Brown was pronounced dead.
A short time after police arrived, Brown’s son, Sage Arias-Brown, was arrested in connection with the killing, according to a press release published by the Suffolk County Police Department. The department’s Homicide Squad detectives took over the investigation.
